Tantalum Rod and Tantalum Bar

Tantalum Rod is made from high-purity tantalum metal, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high melting point (around 3000℃), and outstanding oxidation resistance. It is commonly used to produce high-performance capacitors, transistors, chemical reactors, and high-temperature components. Tantalum Bar has a square or rectangular cross-section. Shanghai Yuepeng can provide custom sizes, shapes, and compositions to meet specific demands.

DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) compliance is primarily concerned with the sourcing of materials for defense-related applications in the United States. According to DFARS, certain materials used in defense must be sourced from the United States or qualifying countries.

Tantalum is soft and ductile but work-hardens easily and can gall. Use sharp, positive-rake carbide or diamond tools, employ low speeds with high feed rates, and apply ample coolant (e.g., oil-based emulsion) to dissipate heat and prevent galling.

The most common standard is ASTM B365, which specifies requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and dimensional tolerances of tantalum and tantalum alloy rod, bar, and wire for electronic and chemical applications.

Common grades include: R05200 (unalloyed, 99.95% purity), R05400 (unalloyed, 99.95% purity with lower interstitial elements), and R05255 (Ta-W alloy, 90% Ta & 10% W for higher strength).
